Top 10 most cuddly and affectionate cat breeds

When the time came to adopt a cat, many families hesitated about the breed of the animal. Welcoming a docile cat who does not hesitate to be pampered is very appreciable, especially when you have young children. And in this field, not all cats are equal. It is therefore better to inquire beforehand about the characteristics of the different breeds of cats. Here are the ten most cuddly and affectionate racy cats.

The Ragdoll

This ball of hair bears very well its English name which means «Doll of rags». This cat is considered by many connoisseurs as the most cuddly of all. He could spend his life in the arms of his master where he lets himself be totally done. He loves hugs, kisses and all kinds of chitchat.

Of an absolute beauty, it has a half-long fur, very full, soft and silky. At the birth of the kitten, the hair is immaculate then becomes coloured from the 3rd month to become either bicolor, colourpoint or mitted. He has large oval eyes, intensely blue, and his gaze is of incredible tenderness. He is very easy to live, extremely sociable but does not like solitude.

The Ragdoll costs between 800 and 1000 €.

The Ragamuffin

The Ragamuffin cat, straight from the United States, is a ball of love. It is extremely attached to its master... and endearing. He loves to be pampered and never gets enough hugs. He loves the children with whom he gets along wonderfully, and the man in general whose company he seeks. It is also very playful, which is nice for all members of the family who can enjoy this interactivity on a daily basis.

This beautiful cat with its long, silky fur is easy to untangle and is classified among the «dog cats». It takes around €1,000 to buy a Ragamuffin.

The Main Coon

Admirable with its half-long fur, well stocked throughout the body and even more on its chest, the Main Coon is native to Maine (United States). He is the representative of the oldest breed of cats (natural, of course) in the North of the States. Impressive with its 14 to 15kg in adulthood, the Main Coon is a real cream. Sweet, affectionate he loves the papouilles and the attentions of every moment. His temperance is astonishing and his great elegance does not go unnoticed. He is an excellent companion for children because of his patience. And he needs consistency because each detangling session lasts a long time because of the ease with which his beautiful fur forms multiple knots.

A Main Coon costs a minimum of €1,200.

The Persian Chinchilla

Resulting from the crossing between two Persian cats (Smoke and Sylver tabby), the Persian cat Chinchilla was created in 1880. It has a white fur (it is called sylver because of its silvery reflections) or sometimes golden (which means golden), long, thick and of great softness. Its splendid, very expressive eyes, of a hallucinating green, are entirely hemmed in black as if they were underlined with kohl. It is one of the few Persian cats that does not have a crushed nose.

The Persian cat Chinchilla retains his playful temperament throughout his life but is also very cuddly and very kind with young and old. He knows how to remain alone and calm if his masters accustom him to parentheses of solitude while they are at work. On their return, the cat is generally very demonstrative, repeating signs of affection.

A Chinchilla Persian costs between €1,000 and €1,300.

The Manx

Also known as the Isle of Man cat from which it originated, this cat without a tail – or that sometimes possesses a semblance of a tail – is very docile. He gets along with all humans, from the youngest to the oldest, is sociable, gentle and affectionate. This «dog cat» is very protective towards his owner whom he follows step by step and likes to spend hours getting cuddled on a chair. He hates loneliness, so it’s better to make sure he has a playmate if you adopt a Manx and work from morning to night. It gets along well with its congeners but also with dogs that support cats.

The Manx costs between 600 and 800 €.

The Devon rex

This cat is rare. It has huge eyes, large ears, a flat and wide skull, prominent cheekbones and a short, soft curly hair. He wins to be known because he is very loyal, faithful, intelligent, player and affectionate. He loves cuddling and has a deep relationship with his master. He enjoys sharing with him all the daily activities, from gardening to cooking, from housekeeping to DIY. It is a cat perfectly suited for families with children.

The price of a Devon rex is between 900 and 2500 €.

The Egyptian Mau

It is a cat whose short-haired dress is rare because it is spotted – punctuated with spots that can be brown or black – which gives it a little wild animal air. Behind this appearance, he is on the contrary very cuddly and affectionate and likes to receive the attention of his masters. He lives well with the children of his host family but remains quite distant with people he does not know. He is active and gambler.

The average price of an Egyptian Mau is €1,400.

The Sphynx

This cat from Canada is a naked cat since it has almost no hair. This feature makes it not only adept. Anyway, he is so affectionate that he may seem a bit sticky to rather distant people. If he does not like to bask in someone’s lap, he loves to rise on the shoulders of his master where he is able to spend hours, waiting for a caress and to be interested in everything he does.

The Sphynx is a cat whose price can reach 1,300 €.

The Sacred of Burma

Also called Burmese, this cat is full of love for its masters. It is appreciated both for its beauty and for its docility, calm and sweetness of character although it has a very rich personality, full of complexity. Its oval eyes are very large, of a piercing blue, and its mid-length fur is extremely silky. This cuddly and faithful cat loves children.

The Sacred of Burma costs around €900.

The Tonkinese

Also called Tonkinois, this cat comes from a cross between Burmese and Siamese. Loyal player, he is a “dog cat” with great intelligence. That is why he is so curious. Very affectionate, the Tonkinese needs a lot of attention. He likes both in house and in apartment but does not like solitude. If his masters are at work all day, it is better that their cat can spend time with another Tonkinois.

The price of a Tonkinese is about 800 €.

Even if other cats do not have the reputation of being as affectionate as those mentioned above, they can be very cuddly towards their masters as soon as they receive a lot of tenderness. Education, the environment in which he grows up, the attention given to him are all conditions that affect the character of a cat…
